Notice on Stretch Energy Code

The Stretch Energy Code will receive two major updates in 2023 and 2024. The Town of Egremont is a Green Community that has adopted and will enforce the Stretch Energy Code. Please visit the Department of Energy Resources' process for updating Stretch Energy Code & Specialized Stretch Energy Code for important information regarding these changes.

Effective immediately, the Selectboard has voted to increase all Inspector Fees to $75 per inspection.  


Solar Ready Roof Zones

State Building Code now requires Solar Ready Roof Zones for some new construction.

The 9th Edition of 780 CMR, the Massachusetts State Building Code, became effective on January 2nd, 2018.

With the adoption of the 9th Edition, it is now required that a Solar Ready Zone be provided for the construction of new detached one and two-family dwellings and townhouses as well as for new low-rise commercial buildings and additions less than four stories above grade.
