James Warwick and Ellen Maggio, co-chairs of the Alford-Egremont Cultural Council, have announced the approval of 30 grants to local individuals and organizations for cultural programs that directly benefit the residents of Alford and Egremont. The Alford-Egremont Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC (Local Cultural Council) Program is the nation's largest grassroots cultural funding network, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. Nearly half of LCC funds support educational activities for young people.
